Our not-for-profit foundation supports ARPD parks, programs and we assist Alameda in providing recreational opportunities for the entire community!

Friends of the Parks Foundation is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization whose mission is to promote, protect and support recreation and park activities and community wellness in Alameda. Our success is dependent upon our members, volunteers and individual and business donors.

We support the preservation, knowledge and awareness of our natural resources through sponsoring community programs and projects in cooperation with the Alameda community and the Department of Recreation and Parks.

The primary source of funding each year comes annual fundraisers which have included events like Oktoberfest, Casino Night, Comedy Night as well as the Friends of the Parks Foundation’s former 10K race, known as ‘Run for the Parks.’ We have initiated an annual golf tournament that will help us maintain the level of commitment needed to support our parks. “Play for the Parks” happens each Fall. Registration can be found on our website at play4parks.alamedaparks.org. Please consider making donations today. 99% of everything we receive goes toward programs and activities that support our parks and our residents.
